I was a bit disappointed when the first 500 Fortunes from the primary account failed to produce one, pretty miffed when the next 300 from easily accessible characters on the secondary account didn't do the trick either. After another 150 wasted fortunes from anything that could beat the path to Shing Jea during the festival time and still no luck it was getting personal

and I had to start rolling new characters, getting them to lv5 then doing the quest (the Knights of Nian was pretty hard with just henches since they were bosses). Anyway, Lunar Fortune #1065 finally yielded a rat.

No, I didn't try to get a second one

In the end I went through abuot 350 fortunes, and apart from that first rat at 250-ish I got TWO MORE in the LAST TEN FORTUNES. Well, what can I say - chance works in mysterious ways, but I think ANets random number generator is a bit sticky.

Over 300 fortunes, no rat. Would like to say I got a nice boost to the party animal track, but all I seemed to get were blessings. *sigh*

Just finished building up fortunes, 368 in total. And after a carpal tunnel inducing amount of double clicking I ended up 8k richer, about 200 fireworks heavier and with 3 celestial rats to my name. I'm quite pleased

Assuming that the drop rate for a rat was 0.33% here's a table that shows how lucky you are if you got at least 1 rat from

10 fortunes: luckiest 3.25% of population
50 fortunes: luckiest 15.2% of population
100 fortunes: luckiest 28.1% of population
250 fortunes: luckiest 56.2% of population
500 fortunes: luckiest 80.8% of population
1000 fortunes: luckiest 96.3% of population
1500 fortunes: luckiest 99.3% of population
2000 fortunes: luckiest 99.9% of population

Thus, unlucky people like me and Manitoba who had to open over 1000 fortunes to get a rat are only moderately unlucky, since there are 3 or 4 of us per every 100 players. If you managed to open 2000 fortunes without getting a rat then you're the least lucky person out of a random group of 1000 people, and if you managed to open over 4000 fortunes without a rat then you're the least lucky person in the entire game!

People who say that it's unfair that one player gets 10 rats out of 50 tickets and another none from 500 and thus ANet's RNG is glitched just fail to grasp that this is exactly what randomness is all about. Although I happened to be on the blunt end of the distribution, I feel that much more attached to my little rat now that I really had to work for it

I got a rat from like my 5th fortune. I gave it to my Boy-Toy. When he got one from his 10th fortune or so he gave it to me.

They are really common so it seems. Kinda like the mini pig last year.

I like my celestial piggy better xD

Thanks for trying but that's alright. The guy probably just would of been put up in my HoM and then given to my storage. But thanks again for trying.

I think the extra lack of rats makes up for the excess gain of pigs last year. I spent about 180 fortunes to get a Rat but got a Pig from 5 mini's from last year. I think they got the balance right this year.

You have got to be joking. I stoped counting after 750. But i know i opened close to 1200 of the stupid things and still not rat. I did not want to corner the market or anything just one for the collection. I have collected 22 of the minis and just needed one add to the collection.

Well, over 350 opened and no rats. Finally bought one for 35K. After that, another 70 or so fortunes.

Still none.

But, I have one dedicated now, so can't complain too much.

LOL! That doesn't even make sense -- there's no connection between the two.. If you had not gotten a celestial rat would you still feel they got the balance right? I went through about 225 fortunes without getting one and others went through hundreds more, so sorry if we don't feel they got the balance right...
